CBSE( Central Board of Secondary Education) conducts board exams every year about 3 million students give exams every year. While some students get failed in a particular subject or 2 to 3 subjects and for those students, CBSE conducts three types of examination for the failed student.
Now, those students who are failed in one subject or more than one they have three condition each condition is very different from each other and all condition have eligibility criteria to apply for it.
While I'm going to explain all three condition in detailed information and giving tips which one you should apply and go for it.

1. Compartment Exam
Compartment Examination is the second chance for the candidate to appear for re-exam for that subject again in the same year. Which gives three chances to students to able to pass that subject. You can apply for it in few days after the result of your board exam in CBSE official website or you can ask in your school for more information.
Eligibility Criteria
1.Only for those students who are failed in one subject. Those students who are failed in more than one subject are not eligible for this exam.
Exam/ Result Date
For this exam, you can apply in few days after the declaration of your board's exam result. You have three chances to give compartment exam:-
1. End of July ( This Year).
2. March ( Next Year).
3. July ( Next Year).
Result Date for the first attempt of compartment exam will be after 20-25 days after giving first compartment exam, for 2nd compartment result date will be at the end of May (next year). For the 3rd attempt, result date will be 20-25 days after giving the exam.
You can fill out compartment form in their official website here. This will charge you about Rs 200-300. The last date to fill compartment form is the end of June.
Guidelines For Compartment Exam
1. Syllabus for candidates will be the same.
2. If the candidate doesn't appear in the first attempt of compartment exam due to any reason he/she shall be treated as fail.
3. Only those students can appear in this exam who get failed in only one subject.
4. For students who are passed in the practical exam then he/she is just to appear in theory exams but if he/she is failed in the practical exam then he/she have to appear for the practical exam.
5. Candidate of Class X is provisionally admitted to 11th class but if he/she get failed in the first attempt of compartment exam the admission to 11th class will be cancelled.
6. Students have three chances to appear for compartment exam.

2. Those students not attending class regularly due to some reason can get their admit card in their official website here.

2. Reappear Exam
Reappearing in the exam is that reappearing in one or more subject again in the exam to pass. Students can get reappear for one or more subjects but not in the additional subjects. In this, you can't get promoted or to be able to get admission until you get passed in reappearing exam. You can apply for this exam after few days of board exam result, you can apply for this exam on their official website here.
You cannot get qualified to next class until you pass reappear exam.
For results of improvement, the exam will be declared with next year board results.
Benefits of giving Improvement Exam
1. If you are planning for IITs, IIITs, NITs you should get 75% above to then only you can take this.
2. For SC, ST they need to score 65% for this.
3. It improves your overall performance.

1. Candidate can take this exam in more than one subject.
2. Only those candidate can take this exam who are not failed in that subject.
3. The exam will be taken in the following next year.
4. Online Application form for Improvement Exam will be out at the end of July onwards on their official website here.

3. Improvement Exam
CBSE conducts improvement exam every year for that candidate who wants to improve their performance or marks in that participate subject.
You can give improvement exam in more than one subject.
